Our Failing Healthcare system

Healthcare Reform is on the forefront of our news and congressional issues. Many people understand changes are needed. However agreeing on what those changes should be is another story all together. Since healthcare is essential to us it is a very important issue.

Some people argue that a national insurance plan like Japan and Britian use is the answer. But many others oppose. Maybe one day everyone can meet in the middle and come up with a plan that will meet the growing demand for good healthcare and make it affordable for all.

The expenses we American’s incur from over inflated health care cost is sometimes overwhelming. Many people go uninsured and without health insurance. We spend more money on health care then most other countries, this does not make since.

Since millions of dollars are spent by American’s every year we should be some of the healthiest people, right? Not so! Our mortality rates show a different story. And the health insurance premiums we have to pay are sometimes 10 times more then other countries. Many can not afford that.

Some American’s can only afford a major medical policy if anything at all. All though a major medical plan keeps you out of major debt you still have a lot of out of pocket expenses which makes finances tight. As many as 1/50 American’s go uninsured due to the cost.

As I mentioned before many feel that a national health insurance plan is the answer. All agree that change is needed, but we just can not agree on what kind of change is the best. Congress should decide which options will benefit American’s the most and go for it!

Much of our medical community do not like the idea of a national health insurance. They argue that the doctor and patient relationship would suffer. Others argue that it could not get any worse then it already is.

For now instead of facing financial doom we must buy as much coverage as we can afford. Health insurance is necessary to our well being, therfore we must find a option that will suit our budget. Whether is be a major medical or full benefit plan we must have a safety net in place.
